St Albans Good Neighbour Scheme

St Albans Good Neighbour Scheme

Since 1980, St Albans Good Neighbour Scheme have been making a difference to the lives of hundreds of local people, helping those who do not have family or good neighbours available, by providing transport, doing practical jobs, assisting with shopping, befriending etc.

In November 2016, St Albans Good Neighbour Scheme are celebrating 36 years of service to the community!

To be able to continue their service to the local community, a service which is much appreciated by so many, they would welcome your help in a Scheme.

They are always keen to recruit more volunteers:-

  • Drivers to escort people to medical appointments, the shops, visit friends/family – mileage allowance paid. The volunteers tell us which days they are available and how often they wish to help.
  • Volunteers to receive telephone calls (between 9am and 1pm) in their own homes, just one day a month, to match the client’s needs with the services our volunteers offer – telephone expenses paid. A friendly telephone manner, clear handwriting and a desire to help others is all that is required – training given.
  • Volunteers to help with small practical tasks or occasional gardening.
