Sopwell gets plugged into the National Cycle Network

The County Highways Department is hopeful that this signed route will encourage Sopwell residents to leave their car at home and cycle into town.

As a way of celebrating the completion of this major cycle route through Sopwell, a short family cycle ride out to Greenwood Park at Chiswell Green is being organised to test out the practicality of the Sustrans 6/61 route for exploring the surrounding countryside to the south of Sopwell.

All are welcome to join us on Sunday 14th June 2009 at 2.30pm where we will be meeting underneath the Cottonmill Lane Bridge at the beginning of the Alban Way.  For those who don't know, access to the Alban Way is at the beginning of Leyland Avenue.

Depending on the support of this event, a further ride to celebrate St Albans Day based on a Roman theme is being planned.
