On Saturday, 19th November, from 10:00 until 13:00, the Ver Valley Society (VVS) Action Group are working with Sustainable St Albans and the Countryside Management Service (CMS), to do some more work along the laid hedge in Sopwell Nunnery Green. This includes installing a bench, putting back the footpath sign, clearing bramble and saplings along the laid hedge, and a litter pick.

Please contact Sue Frearson at sue.frearson@which.net if you would like to join the VVS conservation volunteers working at Sopwell Nunnery Green NR, Sopwell Mill Lane, off Cottonmill Lane or the Alban Way. We will meet at 10:00 at the NR.

The tasks will be:

  • Clearance of bramble and tree saplings away from the laid hedge
  • Installation of a bench 20m from the river Ver
  • Installation of the VVS footpath walks sign
  • Litterpick from Sopwell Mill along the river footpath to Cotton Mill Lane

You will need hiking or wellington boots, gloves and waterproofs if wet. The VVS and CMS will supply suitable tools.
