A walk around Sopwell, 27th July 2008

CELEBRATING GREEN SOPWELL: a walk around Sopwell on Sunday 27th July from 3pm

Sopwell has the largest amount of green open space of any ward in St Albans District. We invite all Sopwell residents to join us in celebrating this fact by walking around some of our green spaces to explore their history and ecology.

As part of the 'Summer of Hugs' organised by the Woodland Trust, we will also 'hug' (measure) some of the lovely large trees in the area so they can be recorded.

The walk will start in the car park of ST STEPHEN'S CHURCH (Watling Street) at 3pm, and take about 2 hours. It will cover approx. 3 miles, and will include field paths and open spaces as well as streets.

Those who prefer not to walk this far can still join in the 'tree-hugging', as many of the trees to be measured are in St Stephen's field.
