Public meetings

1st April 2003

Our first general meeting was held in St Julians Church hall on 1st April 2003.

About 80 residents of Sopwell ward attended. The meeting was chaired by Jenny Owen, Housing Officer of St Albans.

It was decided to establish a steering group of 20 people to write a constitution for the future Sopwell Residents Association and to set out an agenda. All residents were encouraged to make comments on issues that should be tackled by the Residents Association and so a long list was compiled.

3rd June 2003

The Sopwell Residents Association was officially formed on the general meeting on the 3rd June 2003 with the adoption of the constitution.

About 40 Sopwell residents attended the inaugural meeting where 5 committee officers and 10 further committee members where elected.

Since then.........

We have been holding public meetings at least twice a year, one of which is our AGM.

The meetings are held usually in May/June (AGM) and in September, and we usually have them in St Julian's Church Hall, in Mandeville Primary School or in the Marlborough Pavilion, Old Oak, off Cottonmill Lane.

Please look out for the next meeting, which will be announced in the newsletter, on the noticeboards and on this website.
